API Rate Limits

API rate limits define the number of requests that can be made to the Google Compute Engine API . API rate limits also apply on a per-project basis. When you use gcloud compute or the Google Compute Engine console tool, you are also making requests to the API and these requests count towards your API rate limit. If you make a request to the Google Compute Engine API from within an instance, such as an application using a service account to make requests to Google Compute Engine, it also counts towards your API rate limits.

Each project is subject to the following Google Compute Engine API rate limits:

  • 250,000 requests/day
  • 20 requests/second

If you need more quota for API requests, you can request more quota using the API rate limits change form .
